Rice is well known and popular in the Arab countries in general and in the Arab gulf countries (GCC countries) in particular where it is prevalent and constitutes the main item in the meal, in fact the main diet may not be considered as complete if rice is not in the center.
The Arab ladies have various ways and methods of cooking the meals and they are innovative in this aspect. When it comes to rice we find that it is not possible to limit the ways and recipes for cooking and preparing those delicious meals in which rice is the main component. Each country has its own traditional meal in which rice constitutes the main element. For example, we find each country is famous for a special meal and we may even find each region or city known for its own way of preparing the rice meal. For instance, in Saudi Arabia and the gulf we find the very famous meal “Kabasa”, and there is the “Kushari” in Egypt, “Kuskusi” in Morocco… and the other cookings. The followings are some of the well-known cookings in the Arabian Peninsula.
