Rice and health:

Rice is in fact a balanced healthy food, which gives reasonable number of calories (160 per each cup of cooked rice). It is worth mentioning that, the white bread or any foodstuffs made of white flour contain three times what rice contains of sugar and calories. Every 100 grams of white bread contain 67% of sugars (carbohydrates and starch). For this reason it is also advisable to take brown bread and avoid white bread.
Diabetic is caused by our style of life (welfare), lack of movement and rice is not to be accused.

The spreading of diabetic among some of the mid-East nations is not because of rice, as it is widely believed, but may be attributed to taking large amount of direct sugar substances with lack of movement and exercises in addition to the welfare life. Thus the sugar substances are not consumed and are converted to fats inside the human body. This requires the pancreas to secrete more insulin to burn the fats and convert them into energy. Thus the pancreas will be exhausted and some of its cells will gradually die eventually causing the diabetics.

Rice becomes unhealthy if fats, salts and spices are added to it. This is because these additions increase the amount of calories and give different nutritional values depending on the added substances.

In comparison if rice is boiled or cooked according to special ways, it can be considered a healthy food and not harmful to the general health.

The brown (unpeeled) rice is a whole diet.

It is noticed that in India and Mid-East countries many fatty foodstuffs, salt and protein rich food compounds such as fats, meat, nuts, spices tomato and onion ……etc are added to rice. However, in the Mid-East, these substances are not added and rice is taken boiled with water only, but some salt or sugar is added depending on the flavor required. The brown rice (with membrane unskinned) is considered one of the richest types of rice in vitamins, minerals, fats and energy. After skinning the membrane (from the white rice) the percentage of these substances become less as it decline by 90% as the carbohydrate are concentrated in the white rice.
